Hello
My name is Wren Bonkoski.

I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2015, and a yoga teacher since 2011.
I practice massage and teach yoga because of the great relief and release I experienced from these supports; I wish to share what I have learned and what has helped me.
My cancer experiences have shaped my life. The first time I had cancer, I was 14 years old, and I closed off from the world for many years, as I instinctively tried to protect myself from a world I had discovered could be dangerous and out of my control. Gradually, in my late twenties, I found tools--including yoga, massage, acupuncture, naturopathic medicine, therapy, herbal medicine, and pharmaceuticals--that brought me back to myself.
The second time I had cancer was just a few years ago, and I was able to embrace the many forms of support I had cultivated. It was an empowering and transformative experience to ask for and receive support, and to stay connected to myself as I grieved and experienced physical pain and discomfort.
Much of my working life has been in bookstores and libraries. I love reading, gardening, cats, dogs, and cooking. I grew up in the Sonoran Desert, but I am most at home in PNW forests.

Offerings
We live in a world that is often harsh and painful, and often too busy to integrate experiences and emotions.
I can't make grief or some forms of pain go away, but I can tend to you so they may be easier to carry.
Folks with cancer, chronic illness, and near the end of life are welcome in my practice,
as well as anyone wishing to decompress with some gentle care.
Massage
I primarily practice lighter touch techniques to calm your nervous system and help you feel more grounded in your body. My modalities include Swedish Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Myofascial Release, Silicone Cupping, and Gua Sha. I have also trained in oncology massage and end of life care.
Energy Work
I am trained in Reiki and other energetic practices. These techniques can be included in a massage session, or you can have a session entirely of energy work. In an energy session, you can remain fully clothed. I can rest my hands on your body, or keep my hands above your body, whichever you prefer. An energy session is often relaxing, and it also may bring emotions to the surface.
Yoga-inspired Movement
I teach simple, repetitive, balanced classes. I have experience teaching beginners as well as folks who need help with modifications and prop support. I focus a great deal on breathwork, as this is (usually) a key to calming the nervous system and feeling grounded and present in the body. For a private session, we will discuss your particular needs and aims in advance, and I will design a class just for you.
Our Safety
I take the safety of our community very seriously. I wear an N95 mask during sessions (and in all public indoor spaces) and run an air purifier in the studio.
I would prefer you wear a mask during our session, and will have extra masks available; however, I do not currently require that you wear a mask.
